Rape and rape culture

 Rape

Rape is a word for sexual assault — usually a man rapes a woman. This is one of the worst crimes there is. Rape can also mean to plunder or strip something of resources. There are few words more powerful than rape, which is a horrifying crime most often done by a man to a woman

Rape culture is a term that was coined by feminists in the United States in the 1970's. It was designed to show the ways in which society blamed victims of sexual assault and normalized male sexual violence.

Rape is the worst crime in the entire world
How do people think that it's ok to attack and abuse a person who does not want it,has repeatedly said no and has fought against you to try stop you !!!

As for rape culture don't get me started.
Rape culture its in situations in which sexual assault, rape, and general violence are ignored, trivialised, normalised, or made into jokes.
For example

A university in Canada that allows the following student orientation chant: “Y is for your sister. O is for oh-so-tight. U is for underage. N is for no consent. G is for grab that ass.”

3. A judge who sentenced only 30 days in jail to a 50-year-old man who raped a 14-year-old girl (who later committed suicide), and defended that the girl was “older than her chronological age.”

. Mothers who blame girls for posting sexy selfies and leading their sons into sin, instead of talking with their sons about their responsibility for their own sexual expression

8. People who believe that girls “allow themselves to be raped.”
9. Journalists who substitute the word “sex” for “rape” – as if they’re the same thing.

To think in the Twenty first century we still think that opinions like this are ok?!!
This is so disrespectful and ignorant towards the victims!!!
They have be subjected to a vicious attack on their mind, body and soul.
So much stigma around rape victims not the god Damn sick sick individuals who committed the crime!!

Only 3% of rapists ever serving a day in jail.

Which just goes to show how messed up this world really is!

Change your god damn mind set round rape because yer all such small minded individuals that ye think because someone is unable to deflect your attack that you can do what you want to them!
Yer so so sick in the head can ye not see that there's something very very wrong with this??!!!!

If someone violently attacks someone yer all well able to voice yer views on them
But because it's a sexual assault it's not that bad and you can ignore it?!'
That's such bullshit are ye that blind to what's happened?!!! SOMEONE WAS MADE DO A SEXUAL ACT THAT THEY DID NOT CONSENT To !!!!

For those of you who obviously don't know what consent is I'll give ye a definition!

CONSENT is giving permission for something to happen or agreement to do something

YOU HAVE TO GIVE PERMISSION !!! And ye obviously don't know what that means so I'll give ye another definition

PERMISSION is the action of officially allowing someone to do a particular thing; consent or authorisation

YOU HAVE TO WANT THIS ACT TO HAPPEN IF NOT IT IS A CRIME!!!!!

They have no permission to lay one hand on you if you said no!

IF SOMEONE SAYS NO STOP!
Well actually nothing should have even happened in the first place??!
Why does society think this is ok?
Yet when people break and enter into someone house they are arrested for NOT HAVING PERMISSION TO ENTER!!!

The rapist/assaulter has not got permission to do anything to you but yet they do it anyways and more than likely won't get jail time for doing this to you!

Yet the person who broke in will more than likely get a lengthy sentence!!!

Does this not make ye realise something is so wrong with the world

Open yer eyes people your allowing criminals to get away with a major crime!!
Cop the fuck on and change the fucking laws and the way ye view crimes!!!

If someone breaks and enters, things will be taken things that can be replaced like a window money or jewellery
But when someone is raped their soul is taken! They feel dead! They have been fucking violated!
Someone has forced themselves upon them and they couldn't do anything to stop it!

In 2014, 14 RCNI member Rape Crisis Centres (RCCs):
* Provided counselling and support to 1,913 people
* Provided 340 accompaniments to a range of different services including; Sexual Assault Treatment Units (SATU), Gardaí, court and refugee hearings, and other medical and forensic facilities
* Responded to 18,296 contacts made to their helplines throughout Ireland
This amounted to:
* 17,288 appointments for counselling and support
* 1,596 hours of accompaniment
* 1,250 hours spent on Helpline calls

Look at the fucking numbers people!!!

Almost nine out of ten RCC service users were survivors of sexual violence (86%), 13% were supporting people who have experienced sexual violence and the remaining 1% were indirectly affected by sexual violence neither a survivor not supporting someone who was a victim of sexual violence

FACT 1: 93% of people who commit sexual assaults are known to their victims, with 33% being family members or relatives and 30% being acquaintances, friends or neighbours (Rape Crisis Network National Statistics 2014).
IMPACT: 56% of Rape Crisis Centre clients who were sexually abused by a stranger reported the abuse to the Gardaí, while only 15% of these who were sexually abused by a relative reported (Rape Crisis Network National Statistics 2007).
FACT 2: Rapists are men of all ages and from all walks of life.
A US study of 646 convicted rapists found that they were no more psychologically disturbed than those who had committed robberies or assaults (Amir, M. (1971) Patterns of Forcible Rape. Chicago: University of Chicago Press).
IMPACT: Survivors are often not believed because the rapist does not fit the stereotype, as they seem to be such a 'normal' or 'decent' person.
FACT 3: All women face the possibility of rape, not only attractive ones. Interviews with rapists confirm that the woman's looks was not important to them.
IMPACT: The mistaken belief that rape is about sexual attraction leads to excusing the rapist. Some people say that the woman's looks, short skirt or make-up provoked the attack.
FACT 4: Resisting does not protect from being raped. All rapists use tactics of intimidation and fear.  A common reaction is to freeze. Not fighting back or submitting can be a survival response. The rapist is in control of how he acts; the victim is always reacting to the rapist.
IMPACT: Survivors blame themselves. If they have no bruises, cuts or injuries to show, they question whether they were really raped. Society and the justice system question the survivor's actions.
FACT 5: Reporting rape or sexual assault involves complex, invasive and sometimes traumatic procedures. Women who have been subjected to rape or sexual assault are often treated with suspicion and disbelief. This makes it unlikely that a woman would make and stick with a false accusation of rape.
IMPACT: Family, friends and acquaintances do not believe the survivors, especially if they know the rapist. They suspect the survivor wants revenge or regrets what he/she did. As a result, survivors do not report or proceed with prosecution. This reinforces others in the belief that the survivors lied in the first place.
FACT 6: Rape is not a well reported crime. Only 10% - 20% of cases are reported to the police. In the Rape Crisis Network National Statistics 2007, fewer than 18% of survivors reported the sexual violence to the Gardaí. Fear of not being believed, of hurting loved ones (for example, if the rapist is a family member), or fear of the attacker can cause a survivor not to report. Also, many survivors simply try to forget that it ever happened.
IMPACT: Low reporting leads to a denial of the scale of the problem in our society and rapists continue to get away with their crimes in huge numbers.
FACT 7: Sexual violence does not only happen to an unfortunate few, Irish research has found that one in five adult women and one in ten adult men experienced sexual violence (The SAVI Report, Prof. Hannah McGee et al, Royal College of Surgeons, Liffey Press, 2002).
IMPACT: Denying the scale of the problem isolates the survivor and empowers the perpetrator.
FACT 8: Child Sexual Abuse is not a rare occurrence, Irish research in 2002 found that over 20% of Irish women and 16% of Irish men had experienced contact sexual abuse in childhood. Another 10% of women and 7% of men had experienced non-contact abuse ().
IMPACT: Survivors, feeling that what happened to them is rare and therefore 'shameful' or, on the other hand, not 'bad enough', live in silence, do not disclose and do not seek support or help.
FACT 9: Most children are not abused by strangers. Some 92% of survivors, who attended a Rape Crisis Centre in 2007 following childhood abuse, reported they had known the abuser. In 52% of cases, the abuser was a family member or relative, and in 30% of cases the abuser was an acquaintance, friend or neighbour IMPACT: Survivors who knew the abuser, are the least likely to tell anyone and to seek support and help.
FACT 10: Boys are sexually abused too. In 2014, 15% of Rape Crisis Centre clients were male and 84% of them were subjected to child sexual violence. The SAVI Report found that 60% of young men who had experienced Child Sexual Abuse had never told anyone before telling the researcher

It's sad to think that so many people are so afraid of the consequences that will come if they go to the police, they think no one will believe them , they will be asked what they wore, how they acted, were they 'Asking for it' no rape victim asks for it! If they ASKED for it it wouldn't be rape because it would be consensual!!!!
Meaning both parties agree to it!! Not ONE but BOTH, thus it not being rape!
Rape is when one or more parties involved DO NOT CONSENT!!!!!
Rape is normalised way to much!
Get it into yer thick heads that RAPE IS NOT OK! RAPE is not NORMAL!
RAPE is ROUGH (no not fucking BDSM Rough ye fools I mean FORCED ROUGH!)
RAPE is a violation of your person!
RAPE IS THE WORST CRIME IN THE WORLD AND THE PUNISHMENT IN MOST CASES IS BULLSHIT!

STOP GLAMORISING RAPE FOR JASYS SAKE

Rape is a horrible crime. And it effects the victims for the rest of their lives. Depression and post-traumatic stress disorder are common conditions among rape victims.
It is quite common for rape victims to suffer from depression. And untreated depression is the number one cause for suicide.
About 33% of rape victims have suicidal thought.
About 13% of rape victims will attempt suicide.
That's 47% who will commit and attempt suicide!!!! We're meant to be bringing life into the world not Ending it!!!

Suicide attempts may occur years after the rape.!! THIS shows how badly people who are raped are affected! It does not go away! It's always in the back told your mind, like a niggly feeling in the back of your mind clawing away at your happiness and will to love until you see nothing else than a way to escape the torture of your own mind!

But hey I'm just an opinionated 18 year old who knows nothing right? So don't mind the truth that I'm telling all of ye because hey Rapes ok,

Nope, I know the truths and facts about rape and rape culture so ye should listen to me because I'm one of the view people who actually see rape for what it is, a twisted, messed up violation of your person! Change yer views ye close minded  fools
